This Weekend in Europe
by Steve Pastorino / November 02, 2009
I'm getting more and more proficient navigating the world of European handball sites and every Sunday/Monday I find myself checking up on our American athletes to see how they are doing. We also enjoy hearing from them on a regular basis. We're going to try to update information like this on a weekly basis - stay tuned.
It looks like it was a pretty good weekend across the continent.
Jordan Fithian's ESW Weil club defeated Hofweier 35-28. Fithian tallied three goals.
Jen Haubrich's TV Grenzach won their second game of the season, 33-28 over HC Leipzig II. Haubrich has seven goals on the season.
Mark Ortega debuted for Puhlheimer SC in a 30-26 win over Aachen. According to German reports, Ortega injected much-needed aggressiveness on defense, and notched two goals as well.
Finally, Chris Koerner's SC Kronau Ostringen (Rhein Neckar Lowern II) eked out a 23-22 win over TSV Neuhausen/Filder.
Gary Hines' DJK Waldbuttelbrun was off. He scored 13 goals a week ago in a 36-24 loss. We expect Patrick Oliver to debut next weekend for HSG Pohlheim.
