October 08, 2010 to October 11, 2010 - Birmingham, Alabama, United States
There will be a Men's National Team Regional Training Camp from October 8-11 at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama.
This 2010 East Region Training Camp will be a continuation of camps conducted last year in a national effort to rebuild the USA Men’s National Teams. Our goal is to qualify the Men’s Team for the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico and possibly the 2012 Olympic Games in London. To achieve these challenging goals we must first beat Canada in qualification matches this December and, even more importantly, build a pipeline of up-and-coming athletes at all levels.
This will be the last chance male athletes will have to be evaluated before the men’s team is selected that will play against Canada in December. The camp will be run by the Men’s Head Coach, Darrick Heath.
The main focus of the rigorous training sessions, including separate sessions for goalkeepers, will be on:
- Improving individual offensive and defensive skills related to your position and hone those skills in a game-like environment
- Improving wide range of crucial problem solving & decision making skills under physical and mental stress.
Everyone will be given feedback as to their current advancement level, suggested training regiments and “things to work on” in your personal development as a handball player.
The cost of attending the camp is $135 for non MNT pool athletes and will cover room and board for the duration of camp. For athletes currently in the pool there will be no registration cost. For the current USATH Men’s National Team pool, visit MNT Pool.
