Alberta took gold in the Women's Carolina Blue Cup, with the Atlanta Lady Vultures coming in second after the final match, 41-16. "The final was exciting," said East Regional Director Dominique Dumont. "The game was close, and then Alberta went into full steam. There were some great plays by Atlanta, however, such as a spectacular ally oop that really got the crowd going." Carolina took third after its match with Army Black, 15-13. DC Diplomats, Boston, Army Gold and the Tar Heels also partook in the weekend tournament. "It was great to see Boston, DC and Atlanta send teams; it was also great to see Army, who had to drive several hours in snowy conditions to get there," said Dumont. The weekend also included a referee practicum and a gathering at the R&R Grill for the teams. The next step in women's competition: attending Northeast league play April 10 in Philadelphia, and Southeast competition (date to be determined).
