Romania, France, Norway 2-0 in women's handball

BEIJING (AP) Romania, France and Norway emerged with 2-0 records after the second day of women's handball pool play Monday.

Romania has been the most dominant team. With a 34-20 win over China, the Romanians have outscored their opponents 65-39 in their opening matches.

France defeated Kazakhstan 21-18. The French led 19-18 before Paule Baudouin scored two goals in the final six minutes.

Kazakhstan fell to 0-2.

Norway beat Angola 31-17 after holding the African squad to six goals in the first half. The Norwegians improved to 2-0, while Angola is winless.

Brazil and Hungary played to a 28-all draw. Hungary led 17-12 at halftime, but Brazil scored the first five goals of the second half, including four by Eduarda Amarin. Brazil eventually led 28-27, but Hungary's Zsuzsanna Tomori scored in the final minute to force the tie.

Hungary is 1-0-1, while Brazil is 0-1-1 in Group B.

South Korea defeated Germany 30-20. The South Koreans pulled away after leading 12-9 at halftime to improve to 1-0-1. Germany fell to 1-1.

Russia defeated Sweden 28-24 in the nightcap to improve to 1-0-1. Sweden dropped to 0-2.

Pool play continues Wednesday.
