Seattle Speed and LA Team Handball 2 played a neck-and-neck match Friday that came down to the last minute; Seattle defending a one-goal lead for the win, 22-21.
The goal difference stayed within a small margin the entire match; the score was 10-10 at half.
"It was a good game; both teams fought really hard. It came down to the last shot," said Michael Hinson, coach of LA Team Handball. "We only had two subs fighting in there."
LA Team Handball 2, along with LA Team Handball 1 and two other area teams, has been practicing every Saturday since November. The team's goal was to get into the final eight.
"We're a little below expectation," said Hinson. "The guys are playing hard; there are just a lot of close games right now."
The team, performing well in the backcourt, is working to improve its overall defense, according to Hinson.
Andres Espinosa, circle/backcourt, said the team needs to focus decreasing its turnovers.
"We lost a really close game; that was kind of disappointing," he said. "We need to play together as a team more.
"We are our biggest competition."
