Luxembourg overtakes the U.S. in first match of international tournament
USA Team Handball June 04, 2009
In the first international match since 2007 for USATH’s men, Luxembourg defeated the United States, 39-24.
“We came out strong and were leading halfway through the first half 9-8,” said assistant coach Adam Hodges. “They called timeout and switched defenses, which threw our offense out of sync and they took control. We played all subs late, as did they, and it got fast and hectic the last five minutes.”
This was the United States' first match in the Three Nation Tournament. Friday the men play Bad Schwartau, a professional Bundesliga squad of the Second Division.
