NY ref pair officiates finals at Pan Am Championship

The Pan American Senior Women’s Championship concluded this weekend with Argentina defeating Brazil for the gold medal; host country Chile overcame the Dominican Republic for third place in a match broadcast nationally on Chilean television. Both matches went into overtime. The top three teams in the tournament, Argentina, Brazil and Chile, have therefore qualified for the World Championship this year in China.

The remainder of the teams placed as follows:

5. Mexico
6. Paraguay
7. Uruguay

USATH-designated referees Monika Sutton and Malgorzata Golus-Szubelak of New York officiated the suspenseful final matches to determine the placement of the top four teams.
