USA Team Handball is pleased to announce the staff for the U17 National Team Selection Camp, taking place Aug. 2-8 in Colorado Springs, CO, during which 48 youth athletes will vie to represent the United States in international competition.

Mika Maunula will act as head coach for the boys. One of the top players in Finland before retiring and moving to the United States, Maunula helps coach the Los Angeles Team Handball Club and previously instructed athletes at the West Regional Camp in California during Memorial Day weekend. He will be assisted by Greg Morava, 1984 Olympian and one of coaches of the Colorado Landsharks handball club.

Marko Brezic, USATH’s West Regional Coach, will act as head coach for the girls. Brezic brought more than 15 years of experience in handball instruction from Croatia to the United States last year, including an eight-year stint with the Croatian women’s national team. Kathy Rex, 1988 handball Olympian and founder of the Colorado Landsharks handball club will assist him. Rex also recently participated in a Pan American Sports Organization advanced handball coaching seminar in Mexico in late April.

Anca Stephens, USA women’s national team goalkeeper until 2007, will lead goalkeeping-specific training daily for the six young goalies in attendance. Stephens competed internationally for Romania prior to moving to the United States.

Dan Bush, USATH’s Membership Director, will serve as the camp's athletic trainer. Bush received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University and worked previously as trainer for the Boynton Beach High School Athletic Department in Boynton Beach, FL.
