USATH Expands Girls Futures Program
USA Team Handball August 26, 2009
USA Team Handball is looking for a minimum of four self-motivated individuals to be Site Directors of a Girls Futures Program in their city/region. The goal of the Futures Program is to attract more athletes to the sport and identify players to fill the pipeline for future National teams. We successfully launched a pilot program this past year in Colorado Springs and are now prepared to broaden its reach across the country. Implementation of Boys program will follow in 2010-11.
Futures programs may vary by market, but fundamentals include the establishment of:
• Seasonal leagues for grades 7-10.
• Spring training program, league and tournament for U18 High School students.
• Handball summer camps
Once selected to be a Site Director, training and equipment will be provided by USA Team Handball and from the Futures program fees paid by athletes. Site Directors will receive a stipend for each portion of the program and travel expenses to attend a mandatory training weekend on October 9th – 11th, 2009.
Below is a proposed annual calendar of events for Site Directors to perform in 2009-10.
