Asker, Norway - Sophie Fasold, the 16-year-old German American youth national team goalkeeper from Ismaning, recently spent nine days in Norway with fellow dual-citizenship athletes Anja and Karoline Borg. She first met the Borg sisters at Poland's Silesia Cup in November 2009.

Fasold practiced with and competed for 15-year-old circle Anja's team, Vollen, one of the best squads in the Oslo region that now leads the 15A and 16B leagues. Vollen's coach offered Fasold a position on the team in the event she relocates to Norway. Karoline, 19, is still in rehab after breaking her foot at the Silesia Cup; Fasold trained with her second division team, Asker, as well and received special coaching from one of Norway's best female goalkeepers, World Champion Heidi Tjugum.

Fasold also got to be a handball spectator and had the opportunity to watch three wins by Anja's regional all-star team.

"I'm impressed by the technical skills and speed of the Norwegian players," said Fasold. "The senior ladies as well as the players my own age."

All three girls enjoyed their time together and came to the conclusion, "As Americans and handball players living in Europe, we should really get together and bond more often."
