A Few Thoughts From First Captain Marc Beaudoin
August 17, 2010
As reported on usateamhandball.org here, Marc Beaudoin was selected as First Captain of First Captain of U.S. Military Academy’s Corp of Cadets for the 2010-2011 academic school year. It is the highest rank a cadet can achieve.
He began serving as FIrst Captain on August 9 and gave a few of his thoughts on his selection to USA Team Handball.
On what it means to be named First Captain:
"Being named First Captain is an incredible honor and privilege. It is also a truly humbling experience knowing that I am serving for and responsible for over 4,400 cadets."
On why West Point cadets are good team handball players:
"Douglas MacArthur was noted for saying that every cadet is an athlete. Coming to West Point very few cadets have any experience in Handball, but the rigorous physical training of cadet life helps cadets make up for a lack of knowledge of the game. This base of physical training combined with practice and experience makes cadets successful at the sport."
On potentially playing for the Men's National Team:
"Down the road, if the opportunity presents itself and I believe I can truly contribute to the national team and represent the United States, I would be honored to be a member of the national team."
