Last weekend, the Bjerringbro U16 Girls won the B Final in a preseason tournament. Several American girls will join this team in two weeks.

As the USA Select Team heads to Germany this week, it's worth noting that at least three girls won't be coming home immediately when the trip ends 10 days from now.

Molly Watkins, Chanel Turner and Amber Turner are part of a 5-girl delegation headed to Bjerringbro, Denmark at the end of the month to spend the fall semester living, studying and playing handball abroad. Gaby Rapp and Jennie Bergsma will join them in the small town of 7,000 people located in the Jutland peninsular of Denmark.

Bjerringbro is home to the world headquarters of USATH sponsor Grundfos - and its professional club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg is the official partner to the Salt Lake Handball Club.

Allan Friis, is the Sports Chief of Bjerringbro FH, the youth club where the five American girls will integrate at either the U16 or U18 levels.

"We have a lot of curious people over here," Friis said earlier this week."They can't wait to meet these American girls who play handball."

Friis has worked diligently to help the Americans find host families, get registered (at least part-time) with Bjerringbro's lone high school and otherwise make the adjustment from American life to a rural Danish town.

The quintet, which is expected to return home by Christmas, will provide regular updates from their Danish adventure this fall at www.usateamhandball.org.
