Chairman of Midwest Board of Directors announced
USA Team Handball October 23, 2009
USA Team Handball today announced the appointment of Felix Murokh as the Chairman of the Midwest Region Board of Directors. Murokh, who has actively supported and followed USA Team Handball's developments in the past year, has agreed to serve a four-year term to help advance the sport of handball in the Midwest region.
Murokh has an extensive background in both handball and business; a graduate of the University of Physical Education in Minsk, Belarus, he taught specialized handball courses and organized and implemented coaching certifications for handball coaches in Belarus schools and universities.
Murokh emigrated from Belarus to Chicago in 1980. He began working in construction while studying English at night. In 1987, he founded Mr. Floor, which in 20+ years has grown to become one of Chicago's leading home remodeling and construction companies. Based in the near north suburb of Skokie, Mr. Floor now employs 70 people, has a 6,000-sq. foot Designer Center and showroom and a 17,000-sq. foot warehouse.
Since 2006, he has worked with Chicago Inter Handball Club. As the coach of the women's team, he has led Inter to back-to-back National Championships.
An American citizen with a great deal of pride in the United States, Murokh is determined to build a Midwest board that will help America achieve its highest handball goal - an Olympic Gold Medal - and is actively pursuing candidates to join him on his mission.
USATH President Dieter Esch and General Manager Steve Pastorino will meet with Murokh this weekend during the third annual Chicago Inter Challenge. Also in attendance will be Marilyn Gauthier, the newest member of USATH's National Board of Directors. Gauthier is the president of the self-titled Marilyn model agency. She holds a master's degree in English and fell into the modeling business accidentally; Gauthier began her career as a booker and shortly after started her flagship bureau in Paris. Since then, the agency has expanded into men's, sports and celebrity divisions with offices in New York, Brazil and Slovakia.
