WNT to Compete in Four Nations Tournament in Hungary
by USA Team Handball
On the heels of the NACHC Women's Championships taking place in early June, the USA's Team Handball Women's National Team will head to Dabas, Hungary to compete in the Four Nations Tournament from June 22-24.
The United States will be joined at the tournament by hosts Hungary, North Macedonia, and The Netherlands, and will provide valuable European competition as the squad continues to work towards World Championship and Olympic Qualification.
The first match of the tournament for the US is against The Netherlands on June 22. The Dutch side finished 5th at the 2020 Olympics as well as 6th at the 2022 European Championships.
On Day 2, hosts Hungary are the opponent for the USA. The Hungarians come off 2023 Women's World Championship Qualifying with two victories over Iceland in April.
North Macedonia is the foe for the last match of the tournament for the Americans. North Macedonia finished 16th as a host nation at the most recent European Championships, but most recently dropped two matches to Ukraine in World Championship Qualifying.
United States' Assistant Coach Hendrik Schultze spoke about the opportunity of playing such level of competition, saying "Our upcoming training camp and tournament in Hungary is not just another competition - it is a convergence of passion, potential, and preparation. Our squad, encompassing both the vibrancy of youth and the wisdom of seniority, is ready to take on the challenge and cement our place in the world of handball. We march into this tournament with one goal - to improve, to learn, and to give our absolute best."
