Colorado Springs, CO – February 25, 2025 – USA Team Handball (USATH) is pleased to announce the appointments of Cory King, as Youth Women's Beach National Team Head Coach, and Matthew Koman, as the Youth Men's Beach National Team Head Coach. Koman will also serve as Youth Beach Program Director.

King has previously served as an assistant coach in the Senior Women’s National Team coaching staff. Additionally, he co-founded, along with his wife and Senior Women's Beach Handball Athlete Taylee King Tellechea, the St. Pete's Parakeets Beach Handball Club, one of the sport’s burgeoning clubs and grassroots efforts in the United States.

Koman brings a wealth of experience from the sand, having represented the Senior Men’s Beach National Team in international competition. As Youth Beach Program Director, he will oversee the development and long-term vision of USATH’s youth beach initiatives, ensuring alignment with international standards, while fostering a competitive pipeline for future national team athletes in coordination with staff leaders at the Junior and Senior levels of the discipline.

"We are thrilled to announce the appointments of Coaches King and Koman, from among a robust pool of exceptional candidates the Selection Committee considered. They express a clear vision for each program, bring development experience within - and productive ties to - the existing US Beach community, and add the great benefit of professional backgrounds in scholastic settings," Michael King, CEO of USA Team Handball, said. "They teach every day, and we look forward to the results of their work doing more of the same, now across USATH's newest National Team programs."

The Youth Beach National Team will be a key component of USA Team Handball’s continued commitment to expanding the sport’s presence at all levels, with an eye toward future international success. At this time, USA Team Handball cannot yet confirm the North American and Caribbean Handball Confederation's decision with regard to confirmation of the planned U17 NACHC Beach Handball World Championship Qualifier slated for March 2025. USATH will announce the most up-to-date information on the tournaments' details and USATH's teams' intention to participation in the coming days.
