Personal
"Kauna" has played team handball since her freshman year in high school. She learned about handball through a friend, decided to give it a shot, and fell in love with the sport. After a few months, she attended a training camp for the Junior National Team in her hometown of Colorado Springs. Kauna made the team and took her first international trip to Germany to play in friendly competitions. Through handball Kauna has been blessed to be able to visit countries that she otherwise would have never visited such as Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

Kauna has always been a very competitive and aggressive athlete. In high school she was involved in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and lacrosse. Basketball was her main sport. Her team won the State Championship in 2012 and she received 2nd Team All-Conference, Defensive Player of the Year, All-Defensive Team, and All-Academic Honors.

A Native Hawaiian, Kauna values family very much and is thankful of their support of her goals and dreams to be an Olympic Athlete.
