Jason Borchik

Personal

Played football, basketball, and baseball growing up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Discovered team handball after a brief stint as a pitcher on the West Point baseball team. Led West Point Black to three consecutive college team handball national championships and competed for the indoor National Team in various competitions from 2009 to 2013. As an Army Special Forces officer, he led Green Beret teams on deployments to Colombia and Afghanistan. He returned to handball after transitioning from the military while earning his MBA at Northwestern Kellogg. He is married and has three brothers. His hobbies include playing and coaching basketball, skiing, and outdoor adventures.

Career Highlights

• Three-time USA Team Handball College National Champion as Captain of West Point Black
• Selected to the Senior Men’s National Team in 2009
• Competed in the 2012 Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina
• Started at Pivot in all five matches in the Three-Nations tournament in Lübeck, Germany
• Made Beach Handball international debut in the 2022 IHF World Championships in Heraklion, Greece
• Led the team in scoring with 72 points (12 ppg on 77% shooting), before suffering a head injury in Main Round match against Spain
• Led the team in scoring in the IHF Global Tour in Maricá, Brazil with 59 points (9.83 ppg on 77% shooting)

• Named Most Valuable Player at 2023 Puerto Rico Beach Handball Invitational in San Juan, Puerto Rico
