Lawrence X. Taylor Appointed to USA Team Handball's Board of Directors

Colorado Springs, CO - June 26, 2024 – USA Team Handball is pleased to announce the appointment of Lawrence X. Taylor to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Taylor, succeeds Sandra De la Riva Repede, who stepped down from her Independent Director position on March 15. Taylor, will fulfill the remainder of Repede’s term, which ends on December 31, 2026, and will chair the Audit and Compensation Committee.


Taylor brings a wealth of experience to the board, combining deep financial expertise with a strong background in strategy and governance. His diverse professional journey, which spans over 30 years, includes roles as a C-level executive, advisor, and board member across various industries and sectors.


Currently serving as President of Taylor Strategy Group, Taylor advises companies on strategy, finance, and board governance matters. He is recognized as a qualified financial expert by the SEC and has a rich history of chairing audit committees and contributing to discussions on board governance. Over the past 25 years, Taylor has served on the boards and committees of multiple public and private companies across a wide variety of industries and sectors.  


A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Taylor was honored as a “Director to Watch 2020” by the Private Company Director Magazine. He is also an NACD Board Leadership Fellow and is NACD Directorship Certified. Outside of his professional endeavors, Taylor is a native of New Orleans and an avid cook, woodturner, hiker, tennis player, and golfer.


Sandra De la Riva Repede is a two-time Olympic athlete in Team Handball, who competed in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. She played in two World Championships, in 1982 in Hungary and in 1986 in the Netherlands. As a national team player from 1979 to 1988, she competed in over 120 matches, representing the United States around the world.
